Mohammad Hashemian is the founder and CEO of Ethica Data, a Toronto based company specializing in patient-centric software for decentralized clinical trials and health research. Mohammad has been involved in this field since 2009, when as a researcher, he worked on how smartphones and wearables can help tracing the spread of infectious diseases. His work later expanded into using these tools for clinical research in different therapeutic areas.

In 2016, he founded Ethica Data with the goal of enabling clinical trials to become more patient-centric through technology. Ethica’s software provides researchers with the tools they need to conduct hybrid or decentralized trials, such as patient screening, eConsent, remote patient monitoring, and televisit. So far, the company has helped more than 500 trials across 16 countries. In his spare time, Mohammad enjoys gardening and teaching his 6-month old baby how to code.
