Co-Founder and CSO
Dr. Jocelyn Wessels is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at AIMA Laboratories. Jocelyn is an academic scientist turned entrepreneur. She has always had an interest in Women’s Health and has over 17 years experience researching women’s health conditions. During her time in academia Jocelyn focused on finding non-invasive biomarkers of endometriosis. This work, and her passion for changing a stagnant landscape led Jocelyn to co-found AIMA Laboratories with fellow scientist Dr. Lauren Foster.
AIMA Laboratories has created the first home blood test for endometriosis, a chronic condition affecting 1 in 10 women, that currently takes an average of 10 years to diagnose. AIMA’s flagship product can shorten the diagnostic path to a matter of days.
Jocelyn holds a BSc and MSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Guelph, and a PhD in Medical Sciences from McMaster University. She also completed 2 Postdoctoral Fellowships, has written over 30 scientific manuscripts, and won several awards including the CIHR Vanier Scholarship, the CIHR Fellowship Award, and the Ontario Women’s Health Scholar award.
