Darren Kraemer has 15 years of experience successfully commercializing laser technology in both industrial and medical applications. He completed his Engineering Science degree at the University of Toronto with a specialization in condensed matter and photonics. He subsequently joined the Chemistry department, where he earned a PhD for work in molecular spectroscopy utilizing novel mid-IR femtosecond lasers. Alongside his PhD studies, Darren co-founded Attodyne Inc. to develop ultra-compact picosecond lasers for industrial use, and he led the company as CTO and president until its acquisition. Following this, he became the CEO of Light Matter Interaction Inc. and focused on applying novel infrared laser technology to surgical procedures. In late 2020, he co-founded Point Surgical Inc. as a joint venture with University Health Network (UHN), Unity Health, and Light Matter Interaction Inc (LMI), aiming to develop a revolutionary new device for surgical pathology.
